Meet Bart
M.L. [Bart] Bartlett, Jr. was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Spring Valley High and stayed in state to attend college at the University of South Carolina. He is happily married and raising two beautiful twin boys in Columbia, South Carolina, around the corner from his childhood neighborhood.
Bart earned his degree of J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia, South Carolina. He is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, and is admitted to practice before all Federal District Courts in South Carolina and the U.S. District Court for the State of South Carolina. Bart is certified by the South Carolina Board of Arbitrator and Mediator as both a Circuit Court and Family Court Mediator.
Bart has traveled the country attending various Collaborative Training's and is a Collaborative Attorney meeting and exceeding standards of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, (IACP) with extensive specific Mediation and Collaborative Training. He is a proud member of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, and is the President–Elect of the Board for the South Carolina Academy of Collaborative Professionals. He has continuously met the required courses of the IACP and has been a Trainer in Interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice since 2011.
Bart believes that while conflict is a common part of our lives, one way to find peaceful solutions is through the collaborative law process. "Through the collaborative law practice we provide thoughtful guidance, create a calm and cooperative environment and empower individuals to make deliberate and educated decisions that are best for the members of their family – all this, in a time-frame that works for the parties and not one dictated by the court." That is one of the main reasons he started Bartlett Law Firm, to help educate and empower the families of South Carolina.
"As a former prosecutor of child abuse cases, the husband of a pediatrician and father of ten year old identical twin boys, protecting children, preserving childhoods and family relationships even through divorce is something that I am very passionate about. I am able to use my passion and achieve my goals in a most efficient and effective manner through my Collaborative Law practice. "
When he is not working on Collaborative Law, Bart enjoys playing golf, biking, reading, writing and of course, spending time with his family.
